Dr. Hutson will participate in a workshop focused on sustainable cities and local climate action that is being held in preparation for the Secretary-General’s 2019 Climate Summit.
Cities and local climate action has been identified as one of the potential key transformative areas of the 2019 Climate Summit. The preparatory workshop will bring together leading experts from the United Nations, local government networks, the private sector, multinational development banks, and academia. Its focus will be on identifying key opportunities for accelerated action and increased ambition on climate change at the local level and, in particular, with regards to scaling low-emission infrastructure and investments in sustainable supply chains.
The workshop will be held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City.
